Dr. AnnaLynn Schooley is a distinguished licensed marriage and family therapist and mental health counselor with over three decades of experience in clinical practice, higher education, supervision, and advocacy. She earned her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University, where her groundbreaking research focused on the relationships between gay and lesbian-parented families and larger social systems.

Dr. Schooley currently serves as core faculty in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Capella University, where she has taught and mentored graduate learners since 2004. She also contributes to the Healing Arts Institute of South Florida as adjunct faculty, guiding doctoral candidates in Clinical Sexology through research design, methodology, and dissertation completion.

Throughout her career, Dr. Schooley has held leadership roles across academic, clinical, and tribal mental health settings. She has served as Director of Clinical Services, Fieldwork Coordinator, and Clinical Supervisor, overseeing training and supervision for dozens of pre-licensed and licensed clinicians across diverse and underserved populations.

A nationally recognized educator and advocate, Dr. Schooley is an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, a multi-state licensed clinician, and a committed champion of social justice in family therapy. She has co-edited foundational texts such as Contemporary Marriage and Family Theories, contributed to national ethics publications, and received multiple awards including the Jerome Halverson Distinguished Mentor Award and Capella University’s President’s Award for Excellence.

In addition to her academic leadership, Dr. Schooley actively serves as President of the Florida Family Therapy Alliance and has held key roles with AAMFT-affiliated organizations across Florida. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to systemic healing, inclusive education, and advancing the field of marriage and family therapy.
