Children’s Services Council Newsletter

Healing Arts Institute was recently featured in the August Newsletter for the Children’s Services Council:

In 2015 Dr.  Tennie founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Healing Arts Institute of South Florida, which offers services to children and their families at no-cost and provides training and supervision to masters and PhD level therapists from four different Universities. 

In January 2020 Dr. Tennie founded a higher education institute approved by the Florida Department of Education, offering an affordable PhD and Certificate in Clinical Sexology to master’s level therapists; with the main goal of producing more culturally competent PhD therapists of color. Dr. Thelma Tennie specializes in couples and family therapy resolving generational trauma, sexual trauma, career transitions, anxiety, and depression. 

Dr. Tennie holds a Bachelor’s in Psychology, a Masters in Family Therapy, and two Ph.D. ‘s, the first in Clinical Sexology and the second in Marriage and Family Therapy (ABD- All but Dissertation).

Dr. Tennie is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the states of Florida, Ohio, Maryland, and her hometown Washington DC.
