Johnniya Hamilton is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She acquired her undergraduate education from Miami-Dade Honors College, holding an Associate of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Public Safety Management with a concentration in Law Enforcement. She holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Capella University and is currently a Doctoral Student at Capella University studying Advanced Studies in Human Behavior. 

Johnniya has over 5 years of experience working with children, families, and couples providing individual, family, and group counseling. She has experience working with the substance abuse population in residential and outpatient settings. Johnniya has experience in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, parent-child conflict, and adjustment issues related to life-cycle transitional phases. 

Johnniya is trained in a variety of systemic and evidence-based approaches and has practiced these approaches in diverse settings. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). Johnniya has served on multidisciplinary teams, collaboratively working with the Department of Juvenile Justice, child protective investigations, as well as a variety of middle and high schools to provide mental health services in the community. Johnniya has worked in diversion programs for youth and adheres to restorative justice approaches. 

As a family therapist, Johnniya aspires to facilitate peace and healthy relational boundaries that encourage cohesion and effective interpersonal behaviors amongst individuals, couples, and families. She promotes self-advocacy and vulnerability that motivates personal growth and changes in behavior. Her mental health background and experience make her an asset to the Healing Arts Institute team.
